Flat boats are designed for slow speeds and calm water, specifically to run in the "flats," those shallow coastal waters where saltwater species like tarpon, redfish and bonefish tend to flourish. They work well in waters as shallow as two feet or less in depth. A wide-open platform at the bow is available for anglers to cast their line.
There are elevated platforms at the aft that allow you to move the boat through shallow water, using a push pole, watching for fish below the surface. The flat boat also features one or more live-wells for live bait. A jack plate or movable engine mount is offered so that you can raise the engine vertically to allow the boat to continue running in shallow water.
Of course, the L&H Flat Boat can still be used for the occasional mini-cruise or trip to your favorite waterfront restaurant. Most of the time, however, they are all about pursuing fish!
